Bis zum Jahre 1874 hatte der Magistrat der Stadt München hier seinen Sitz und noch heute wird der wunderschöne, gotische Saal bei Empfängen oder anderen Feierlichkeiten genutzt. Mehr über die Geschichte der Stadt können Besucher auch am Marienplatz 21 erfahren. An dieser Adresse steht das einzig erhaltene Gebäude aus der Vorkriegszeit. Ein weiteres Baudenkmal am Platz ist die Mariensäule, aufgestellt zu Ehren der Schutzpatronin.
