Erbaut wurde es zu Beginn des 20. Jahrhunderts ursprünglich als Spielstätte für Wagneropern. Opern stehen auch heute noch regelmäßig auf dem Spielplan, darüber hinaus lassen sich von hier aus das Münchner Kammerorchester und zahlreiche Gaststars hören. Moderne Klänge präsentieren die Studierenden der Bayerischen Theaterakademie August Everding im zum Haus gehörenden Akademietheater.

Beim Auschecken mussten wir zudem nichts für den Parkplatz und die Getränke aus der Minibar bezahlen. Das war mehr als kulant und eine sehr positive Überraschung. Das Personal war sehr freundlich und zuvorkommend. Das Frühstück war sehr reichhaltig und schön präsentiert.
