When you rent a car in Munich you have the opportunity to explore Bavaria, taking small trips to surrounding areas. Schloss Linderhof, or the Linderhof Palace, is a remaining symbol of German royalty, as it was a residence of King Ludwig II. Inspired by the great Versailles, Schloss Linderhof is situated in a large and impressive garden that drew reference from the Italian Renaissance gardens. Inside the palace, there are many ornate details, such as an ivory chandelier and a carpet made from Ostrich feathers. Linderhof is also home to the Hall of Mirrors, creating the feeling that you are walking through a never-ending pathway.

Die Klimaanlage war ausgefallen (ausgerechnet in der heissesten Zeit). Das Hotel hat direkt angeboten, uns als Wiedergutmachung das Frühstück zu offerieren. Beim Auschecken mussten wir zudem nichts für den Parkplatz und die Getränke aus der Minibar bezahlen. Das war mehr als kulant und eine sehr positive Überraschung. Das Personal war sehr freundlich und zuvorkommend. Das Frühstück war sehr reichhaltig und schön präsentiert.
Das Wahrzeichen Münchens befindet sich ebenfalls in der City: der Dom "Zu Unserer Lieben Frau" oder kurz auch Frauenkirche genannt. Unverwechselbar erheben sich die beiden Zwiebeltürme über die Innenstadt. Fast 100 Meter sind sie hoch und architektonisch an den Felsendom in Jerusalem angelehnt. Seit 1525 schon bestimmt die Frauenkirche Münchens Stadtbild. Einst soll hier sogar der Teufel ein- und ausgegangen sein; davon zeugt ein Fußabdruck in der Eingangshalle. Hier soll der Teufel gestanden haben, als er mit Baumeister Jörg von Halspach um dessen Seele wettete.

Freunde klassischer Musik sollten einen Ausflug nach München Bogenhausen unternehmen. Am Prinzregentenplatz liegt hier das Prinzregententheater, eine der größten Bühnen der Stadt. Erbaut wurde es zu Beginn des 20. Jahrhunderts ursprünglich als Spielstätte für Wagneropern.
